De Hoge Veluwe: A national park with a beautiful museum (Kroller Muller museum, many pieces of Van Gogh and French impressionists), a sculpture garden and a very large park area (public bikes available). www.hogeveluwe.nl . Can be reached by public bus , but it takes some time (1.5 hours) to do so, so a day tour is advisable.

Open Air Museum Arnhem: The Open Air Museum occupies a magnificent park with more than 80 historic houses and farms from different parts of the country. www.openluchtmuseum.nl/english
Wijk bij Duurstede: a historic town with an old castle and a history dating back to the Normans. Easily reached by bus.
Arnhem: The new shopping centre of Arnhem has just been finished. A bus from the conference hotel goes straight to Arnhem.
Utrecht: If you want a day of shopping you can go to Utrecht. It has an old center with a beautiful cathedral and tower (the DOM tower) in its center. Shopping and sightseeing.
Can best be reached by train from Ede –Wageningen station.
Arnhem War museum. Near the hotel are the field of the battle of Arnhem in the 2nd world war. A small museum is in Oosterbeek, illustrating the conditions of the war. The war cemeteries are nearby. The bus to Arnhem passes the museum.
Walking: The surroundings of Wageningen are very suitable for walking or biking. Maps are available at the conference registration.
